Chapter 1 - Prologue

Chronicles of Narnia: Remnants of a darkened mirror.

Shortly before Narnia’s destruction in the last battle a few renegade Narnians managed to escape into our world…

They have been here ever since…
Waiting…
Plotting…

Prologue:

Whiplash the wolf alpha male had been at one time long, long ago commanding one the many regiments that were finally on the verge of overthrowing Aslan and the hated human king out of Narnia for good or so they thought…

Instead he barely had time to escape with a few of his best soldiers and other Narnians into the world called Earth where the hated humans came from in the first place.

And a more awful place it could not have been. Not only was it ruled by humans whom he loathed but also the animals in Earth were dumb brutes that possessed no self awareness as those from his long gone homeworld were. His other Narnian companions included a few Minotaurs, Humboldts, Nymphs and an ambitious renegade Faun named Cromwald and as much as he despised most of his kind as well. Had it not been for Cromwald’s ability as a faun to enchant humans they probably would have not survived for long. Cromwald using his magic illusion had managed to learn about something called Wall Street and become rich as a result by further investing in Nightclubs all across the outskirts of New York City. Which he controlled in his lavished mansion under the assumed name of Cromwell’s Entertainment.
Now Whiplash looked on from the observation lounge at the crowd dancing the night away below on the dance floor of one of their main nightclubs “Look at them Cromwald so self absorbed. How is it that such a pathetic species even had a chance to somehow defeat the white witch so long ago is inconceivable.”
Cromwald nodded “Indeed but it is something we intend to correct once and for all. Narnia is gone but we will remake it in our own image right in this world, but for that we will need to weaponize the substance that we recovered from Jadis own wand! No doubt Gorgon’s blood.”
“Makes sense…” Whiplash added “It’s the only thing that could turn living beings into stone as that wand of hers did”
“Yes well, we are still missing some components that you are still due to procure.”
Whiplash snarled back “Just worry about fulfilling your end and I will fulfill mine Faun”
“Tsk, Tsk... Have you forgotten who is in charge here?” Cromwald asked indignant

Whiplash sighed deeply as he responded “I have not Sire…”
“Good, because none of you would even be alive had it not been for my skills. Don’t forget that!” Cromwald said confidently.
“Can I go now?” Whiplash asked humbly and against all his instincts.
“You are dismissed see to it that the materials are obtained.” Cromwald replied as he went to the window to watch the action on the dance floor below.
Whiplash got out of the room as he simply replied “Aye sir”
One of his subordinates asked him “For how much longer do we have to tolerate that insufferable Faun?”
“Don’t worry once we get rid of the humans in this planet. I will personally crush all his bones!” Whiplash answered with a cruel look on his eyes.

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Chapter 1
New York suburb of Belleview

“Joshua Reinhardt you get over here this instant!” Yelled his mother Joan O’Brien as she usually did to get his attention.
Through the blast of the speakers of his handheld game console he heard his mother’s call “coming mom!”
Joshua came upstairs to where her mother was waiting right at the bathroom’s doorstep.
“How many times have I told not to leave your clothes on the floor, pick them up right now and finish packing, I have to drop all of you at your father’s house in about half an hour so get on with it” his mother told him lowering her voice just a bit.
Joshua complained “Aww! Mom, do we have too?”
“Yes you do Sweetheart I know you guys don’t like to go to your father’s house but the court decision was final and we have to abide by it. Besides it’s only a weekend every 2 weeks.”
Sighing Joshua complied as his mother called on the rest of his siblings….
“Mathew, Janet hurry up you 2”
The fraternal twins responded in unison “We are ready mom”
In a few minutes they were all in their mother’s car heading toward their father’s house located in a manor on the outskirts of the city. Traveling with them was their trusty German Sheppard Gerald which they had adopted about 2 months earlier from a shelter. Gerald however was no ordinary dog he in reality was a Narnian dog sent by Aslan himself after the renegade Narnians. Gerald whose real name was Starlight remembered the event as clearly as it had been yesterday.

Narnia, just before the last battle…

Starlight came into Aslan’s tent as requested “You summoned me, milord?” he said bowing respectfully down in Aslan regal presence...
Aslan glanced at him with loving eyes as he responded “There’s something you must know that the others still don’t my beloved Starlight. This will be Narnia’s very last moments after this battle all of it shall be gone and all those that are with me I shall bring with me to my father’s kingdom.”
“We all knew that one day it would come to this, for everything that has a beginning has an end.” Starlight replied solemnly
Aslan smiled as he continued to explain “Indeed but the reason I summoned you here is to tell you that you won’t be going with us. At least not yet, for there’s a task yet to be done…”

“Milord?” Starlight replied back feeling confused.

Aslan explained “As we speak there’s a few renegades that are about to escape into the world of the humans and their plan will be to remake Narnia in their own twisted image. I shall send you so you can help the humans stop their plans for it will involve their elimination from the face of their world. You will have to remain anonymous and not show your true identity to the humans until the time comes.”
Starlight was intrigued “And how will I know that?”
“Don’t worry, trust me you will. You will be placed in an animal shelter where latter a family shall adopt you. This is the family that you are to help in defeating the renegades and their ploy
, I warn you my good servant it won’t be easy, humans could be pretty cruel toward creatures they consider inferior and you will not have others of your kind for the dogs of the human world are not sentient, I however can also assure you that the family that will adopt you will love you and you will love them right back.”
Starlight was feeling a bit uneasy “Any other tips before I go?”
As Aslan raised his mighty paw he replied “Yes, don’t ever go into a bathroom lest you want to actually drink water from a toilet!” as Aslan finished his sentence Starlight felt the ground beneath him opening up and he fell through it and all of sudden emerged from a wall into strange surroundings…

An alley in downtown NYC 2 months earlier…

Starlight senses where overwhelmed by the stench of garbage and he saw rats the size of cats scampering around, as he turned into a corner a noose fell on his neck making him yelp in anguish. He was dragged into a strange vehicle of some sort the likes of which he had never seen. It wasn’t pulled by any horses or other creatures as the vehicles he was accustomed too. He was placed in a cage inside the vehicle along with other dogs as the doors of the vehicle were slam shut.
He felt the vehicle making a strange noise and then beginning to move and pick up speed. The journey was bumpy and it ended about half and hour latter.

Belleview NYC Animal shelter half an hour after Starlight’s arrival:

Again he was noosed and dragged into a room filled with individual cages, on the opposite side was a glass door and on it he saw his reflection for the first time and what he saw surprised him in this world he was a pup about 6 months old! He had heard stories from the Pevensie’s as to how when they had returned to their place of origin they had returned just as they had come into Narnia as children instead of full grown adults and so on. But it was the first time he was experiencing it himself and to say the least it was truly weird! His thoughts were interrupted as he was unceremoniously put in one of the cages.
The smell of misery and death permeated the place and Starlight had never felt so utterly helpless or alone, as he sat there in the poorly lit room he claimed to Aslan in his mind “Give me your strength dear Aslan!”

Belleview NYC Animal shelter 2 days after Starlight’s arrival:

Starlight’s first days on Earth were harsh, he was prodded and he had been pinched with needles in his hindquarters. He had overheard the humans referring to them as rabies and distemper shots whatever the heck those things were it did not matter to him what mattered to him was that they hurt like hell. As brave a ranger as he had been in Aslan’s army he could not help it and found himself whimpering like a pup which ironically at least physically if not mentally he was. Again his thoughts were interrupted as he heard the distinct footsteps of humans coming down the opposite corridor A few seconds latter a bright eyed kid no older than 9 stood at his cage smiling, Starlight felt relieved to see a friendly face for a change and instinctively he happily wagged his tail.
Joshua Reinhardt looking for a pup in the shelter along with his siblings and mother had come to see what he thought to be the cutest German Sheppard puppy he had ever laid eyes across. “Hey mom, Janet, Matt look what I just found!”
Janet came shortly followed by Matt and their mother to the cage that Joshua was kneeling at.
“Oh my Josh! That’s a pure breed German Sheppard pup. In any pet store it would cost no less than 200 dollars or more to buy one. Aww he is adorable! What do you think mom?”
Mathew knelt beside his brother “I think we won’t find a better dog to adopt in this whole pound mom, we should go for it”
Joan sighed “I believe you are all right, it’s a surprise to find a pure breed pup like that in a place like this” she then addressed the caretaker “We will take the German Shepard puppy”
The caretaker smiled “You guys are indeed lucky, he was brought in just a few days ago somehow wondering the backstreets of Manhattan. The oddest thing is he did not have mange or any other diseases that most stray pups usually have. We reckon some heartless bloke must have abandoned the poor guy just hours before we found him. He wasn’t even malnourished!”
Janet feeling outraged by where the pup was found added “You mean to say that some heartless fool just dropped him on a backstreet in Manhattan to die. That’s horrible I’m so glad you guys found him so soon.”
The caretaker smiled at her as he took Starlight out of the cage, Starlight could not be happier to be out of that cage and being still a pup he could not help but to involuntarily urinate as he was being taken out. He felt his face getting hot because of how ashamed he was at not being able to even control his bladder. The caretaker mused “Well at least we know you can put out a fire if we need too, don’t you little fellow?”
The comment just made Starlight feel even worse but he knew he could give away under any circumstances who or what he was until Aslan were to indicate to him somehow the right time. Of all the things he once was and had, all he now had left was his faith.
The caretaker addressed the children as he was about to hand them the pup “Now listen here, a pet is not a toy but a serious responsibility kids. Is an oath you make between yourselves and God to take care of this wee one for the rest of his life you hear?”
Joan added “I gave them the lecture about responsibility already but thanks”
The caretaker replied “No problem as I said you guys are very lucky in fact I believe it was faith that brought you here today to adopt this little one, you were meant to adopt him!”
Matt asked “You really believe all that?”
The caretaker a bit puzzled answered “Well yes, why? Don’t you believe in God and miracles?”
Matt feeling a bit annoyed replied “I used too but now I don’t know what to believe in anymore…”
The caretaker looked tentatively at Matt and asked him “Why is that?”
Matt felt uncomfortable being asked about such things as he replied “What business would it be of yours to know that?”
He was instantly scolded by his mother “Joshua don’t be rude apologize to the man right now”
Josh sighed “Fine I’m sorry but I really don’t like to be questioned about those things, if you must know I believe that if God existed he would not have allowed for Dad to become a mobster and to try to separate us. He would still have a decent job and he would still be with mom and Grandpa and my uncle would not have died in the Twin Towers ok! That’s what I believe! Happy now?” as he hurriedly walked out
Janet sighing deeply spoke “I’m sorry for that we have been through very rough times as you heard sir”
The caretaker replied solemnly “No problem miss, take care and God bless”

Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2
I-70 Inroad to New Jersey 7:00 PM present day

Starlight reminiscence came to an abrupt end as Josh loudly asked his mom, as little kids customarily do, “Are we there yet”?

About 2 hours earlier at the Lampposts nightclub, New Jersey

Theresa Martinez was an up and coming dancer from Brooklyn. She was eager to start her new job as Go-Go dancer at the club when a bouncer told her that Mr Cromwald himself wanted to see her. Feeling nervous, but proud to be called to the presence of the man that had the biggest night club chain in the Eastern United States, she complied. “Mr. Cromwald you asked for me?” she asked as she entered the poorly lit office. Cromwald was at his desk with 2 of his extremely intimidating guard wolves at each side of the desk. “Yes I did my dear, I want to take a picture of you. Will you please go into the next room so I can take it?”

An expression of displeasure appeared on Theresa’s face as she heard Cromwald’s proposal. She sighed deeply, and with obvious held back anger “I see, OK I’ll be leaving now, this was a mistake obviously” she said as she began to walk out “What is the problem? It’s just a picture!” Cromwald said knowing full well what the response would be, the Faun had become an expert in manipulating people and their emotions.

“Just a picture?” Theresa snapped back “Mr Cromwald I came here to dance not to pose topless, naked or otherwise for whatever fantasies you may have. If that’s what you want you should have written you wanted to hire a slut and not a dancer!”. Cromwald just sat behind his desk, amused and somewhat bewildered at the response the young women before him gave. Most other girls whom he had made the same kind of deal had not refused and even asked if he wanted them to pose topless or naked and yet this human female did not conform to that laxed, hedonistic behavior. He finally spoke up “I never asked for you to pose naked, topless or otherwise, I asked just to take a picture of you that’s all.”

“Really, what’s the catch?” Theresa asked incredulously “Catch? No catch just a picture.” Cromwald replied with the same annoying and yet somehow soothing calm demeanor. “Really? Just a picture of me. Not topless, not naked, not making out with some other girl or anything like that?” Theresa asked back intrigued.

“No, just you. May I ask you something?” Cromwald replied “What?” Theresa replied. “You are here to get a Job as a Go-Go dancer which requires pretty skimpy clothing. Yet the idea of not wearing a top or being naked in front of a camera disgusts you, why is that? Not that I want that sort of thing as I explained but I’m curious as to why.” Cromwald inquired.

Theresa sighed again “Mr Cromwald I cannot believe you do not see the difference between wearing a bikini and a tank top and wearing nothing or being topless right?” she answered, not liking the line of questioning at all. Cromwald now had her exactly where he wanted her to be and changed to a more conciliatory tone. “Yes I do as I said I was just curious, I take it you really must have had some bad experiences with other employers right?”

“Most of them have tried to take advantage of me, to force to pose for pictures or worse…” Theresa explained

Cromwald stood and strode until he was behind Theresa and placed his arms on her shoulders. Theresa felt inexplicably relaxed as he did. “Dear child you have suffered long enough, come with me to take that picture of yours and I guarantee you that no one will ever disrespect you as those other employers did” Theresa now under the full influence of the faun complied.

Cromwald led Theresa under his trance to the small room adjacent to his office were a strange looking camera on a tripod and a green tarp on the opposite side Cromwald placed his subject, now devoid of free will, in front of it. Then he went behind the camera and once again spoke very soothingly “Now show me your moves dear, dance for me!”

Just as Theresa complied starting a sexy dance routine, Cromwald depressed a button on the odd looking camera and a small hissing sound was heard. Theresa felt a sting below her breasts but before she could make sense of anything she felt in horror her whole body turning to stone. It was over so fast she just did not have time to react. She was left in a dancing pose with a terrified stare on her face.

“Do we have to kill each and every one of them, Cromwald? It seems like such a waste” Trixxie the Nymph said as she stepped out of the shadows and gently rubbed the cheek of the former dancer now turned to stone. Of all the creatures of Narnia besides Dwarves she was the most human looking though her pale white skin purplish hair, amber eyes and pointed ears were distinctive features of her people.

“You know as well as I that we won’t be able to wipe them all out in one swoop. Once their numbers are down to the brink of extinction you can keep as many as you want as pets if you like sweetheart!” Cromwald replied as he issued an order to the closest Minotaur. “Get my new statue to my garden SAP!” “Yes sir” the Minotaur replied as he almost automatically complied “And someone phone that idiot Reinhardt again. He is late as usual.

Trixxie was one of 3 Nymphs that came with the Renegades to this world to “remake” Narnia again. But as time had passed she increasingly questioned that goal and it’s motives. While she and her kind lived in Narnia, they had been mostly very reclusive being creatures of the forest. They rarely ever mingled with Humans.

But humans destroyed her home nonetheless and at first she shared the same anger and hatred that kept the others focused; focused like a laser beam on its target. Her time on Earth had greatly changed her views, she had learned that she could not all humans responsible for what had happened to her much less those of this world which was not even their own in the first place.

Her fellow Nymphs did not share that sentiment although they pursued pleasure by mingling with humans in the club as with Cromwald’s spell to humans they looked just like another Bar Girl having a good time. To her “sisters” mingling with humans for pleasure was just the means to an end. For her it had also been like that at first. Until one day a male customer got rowdy and a human female came to her aid kicking the guy in the crotch and calling the bouncer.

From then on she began to change her views about humanity. Trixxie knew that what was being planned was perverse and evil. But she had no way to stop it. She knew she could never go to the authorities and reveal herself. She knew she would end up being dissected in some lab as a result. For the first time in a long, long time she pleaded to the deep magic as her ancestors once did. “Dear mighty Aslan, I don’t know what to do, this needs to be stopped and I can’t see how, help me!”

“What’s the matter, dear?” A very soothing but unidentified male voice inquired, Startled Trixxie looked back to see who had spoken a medium sized man with gentle eyes was looking plaintively at her. “Who are you? How did you get here? I did not hear you come in!” “You asked for help” the man replied. “What you heard me on the hallway?” The man smiled “Aslan heard your pleas child.”

“How could you possibly know about Aslan? You don’t look like a Telmarine nor like a Calormene which are the only humans besides the Pevensies to know of Narnia and of Aslan.”

“He goes here by another name my dear, and as I said he has heard your pleas and has sent me to tell you that soon Mr Reinhardt shall be arriving with his kids and it is his kids you shall seek for they are the ones that will help you, you will help each other defeat this evil plot”

“So a few children are the ones that are going to save this world?” Trixxie asked even though she knew the Pevensies themselves came as children and defeated the White witch back in her own world she still had trouble digesting that Children could or should take the lead in situations like this. “Why do you doubt it, when you know full well that the Pevensies defeated the White witch? Kids have not only become rulers in Narnia as the Pevensies did. They have become leaders and kings right on this world as well, never underestimate what children are capable off.” the man explained as if reading her thoughts. “Now go. Time is off the essence, Aslan will be with you” he finished before he disappeared before her very eyes to be replaced by a gentle breeze that blew across the room.
