I've never read a fiction about Tar-Miriel and to be honest, don't remember her from the Silmarillion. I think I slept through the Second Age lol This was a wonderfully written piece and it made me want to know more about her. I think you write angst very well!

Wow! This was thrilling!

I think you've captured the tragedy of Miriel perfectly in this short story: her happier past when she was young, and then her marriage and the downfall of her homeland, the shards of her pride turning into shame, and her contempt for the one who caused the disaster.

Powerfully done and heart-breaking. Brilliant response to the challenge. Thank you Smile smiley face

Like you, I have never read the Silm all through, but you were so good at weaving the salient points of Miriel's story through her thoughts that they didn't feel like exposition at all and that is hard to do. I like the way her feelings and thoughts keep moving and changing in this ficlet. That reads very realistically.

But it's such good angst! I loved that whole paragraph about what is a wife taken by force. Her bitterness comes through so clearly! Really excellent work, elea!

I absolutely love this line: >>I know too well that I am beyond all hope of redemption, but surely there is still hope for the innocent of this once proud and beautiful land.

This entire piece is heartbreakly beautiful. Very very well done in the layer and nuances of having lost all they once had.

I read without knowing who she was, and loved it. Now I have looked her up and realise what a good job you have done.LBJ

Such a tragic, heartrending piece. This story is gripping. I can feel her pain as she looks back on her life. Excellent job!
