Flying Games

Chapter 1: Flying Games

by eiranae

Meggie collapsed in a heap on the velvet carpet of spring grass, laughing beneath her new wings. The taste of wind only birds and clouds had previously savored filled her senses. Like Icarus, she now knew the joy of flying, yet Doria’s wings brought her safely to the ground again.

“How was it?” the inventor asked.

“Breathtaking.”

Meggie slipped the wings off and threw herself into Doria’s arms.

“I saw everything!”

His eyes reflected her manic smile. Meggie froze, noticing the heat of his body and the darkness of his eyes simultaneously. She would not need wings for this game.
