I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the best way to write an outline for fics. I've never tried doing one before and cant figure out the best way to go about doing so. Please.

On of the best ways I've found is to get a stack of index cards and write down an important point, scene or happening on each one. write a single element on each card. Character traits, relationships, write down all the interesting or important parts of the story, one part on each card. (think 10-30 words each).
what does your main character want? why can't they have it? what does s/he have to learn, how does s/he have to change, what does s/he have to give up -- in order to be successful?

then shuffle through them and put them in order and write the story using each card to write your scenes.

I used this method once to come up with a decent plot (and subplot):
