I'm probably going to be smacked for this.... but who exactly is Glorfindel and he sort of a nicer looking Fabio?

I used to have a history teacher who told us "get up every morning, look at yourself in the mirror, and say "I am ignorant. That's why I go to school!"

In that vein, Glorfindel is like Fabio only in the long blonde hair department. G's muscles are for real. They'd have to be to slay the big nasty, demonic, gianormous, flaming monstrosity that is a balrog. So, he's the Elven super-soldier, in a way.

Ecthelion (Lord of the Fountain) is wondering what this will say about those full blood Noldo elves who had Balrog's for breakfast Wink He killed three ballrogs in the epic battle of Gondolin... where Glorfindel killed just one? Rolling Eyes Poor guy!

So much for that Wink Laughing

hehe yea that's why I felt bad for him and decided to give him his own fic in the future getting some lovin'. Very Happy

Hehehee.... this is a talkative, friendly bunch. Enjoying myself so far. Rock on.

So, I've seen all three movies (no shock there to anyone) however I will pose this next question, seeing as how trekkie's fav. book char was left out.

Are the book and the movie very similiar or are the books just rockin' and the movies do them justice given the limitations?

By and by, books usually always kick movies butt, but hey. One never knows.

And next to blonde elfs... what are the next fav. chars of the group?

We do not shorten Noldo names like that. Shocked He is Glorfindel or Glo (only cause he glows sometimes) but Glorfy??? Naughty!!! Trek....you've made me so sad now. I wouldn't I need Curufin to comfort me. And no - you may not call in Cur. Or Fin. OMG If you called him Fin do you know how many elves would answer??? Finrod, Fingolfin, Fingon, Finwe, Finarafin, Finduilas....need I go on?

*takes Trek's fuzzy handcuffs as punishment* Ha - that'll teach ya

Not to discourage conversation, but this is well trodden territory. Here are some threads where we've talked about this kind of thing before:

Favorite Characters
Fav charactor to write about
and, for good measure:
Least Favorite Character

Now here's a topic I don't think we could possibly devote enough space too - there is simply too much to say and so many different shades of opinion.

There were lots of differences between the films and the books, whole characters and scenes left out, even the bulk of the ending omitted. Some folks were very upset, some merely miffed; some, like me, happily satisfied. There are a few changes I don't get (the whole Brego/Aragorn thing, and tying Arwen's fate to that of the ring ... I will never understand what that was all about), but mostly I can imagine why the script writing team made the decisions they did.

And did get onto film I thought was just beautiful and appropriately envisioned, with very few exceptions. Some character's, uh, characters were made more accessible, too, with mostly good results - my favorite, Boromir, being perhaps the most notable example. There there's that whole Sean Bean thing Drool Bucket Bounce which I cannot say enough good things about!

Don't let Haleth see this - she's still deluded into thinking he's blonde. Outta here

Doh! I was thinking Trekkies's, as it were - as if some favorite Star Trek book character had been left out of a film ... so you can see why I had questions. Sorry ... I guess my daughter's distraction techniques were successful. Confused

If appropriate capitalization were employed more consistently a great many misunderstandings might be avoided No No
