Some still images from the XFiles movie currently in production:

Seeing them together again is nostalgic in the best possible way.

Oooh! I'm kinda getting excited about this. I have so missed my Mulder/Scully fix these past few years.

Thanks for these, Viv.

Two good quotes from new article (http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/03/27/people.chriscarter.ap/index.html) about the movie, which is due out this summer:

Quote:
"While this is not a mythology movie, it's true to everything that's come before," Spotnitz said at the William S. Paley Television Festival. "It's true to Mulder and Scully, who they are and where they would be this point in their lives and all of the experiences that they've had."

Quote:
Carter, who also directs the new movie, said it takes place in the present and uses a story envisioned when the series ended. While the show's sprawling alien mythology isn't part of the plot, Carter said there is a reference to Scully's seemingly supernatural son, William, who was born in season eight and later given up for adoption.

That will certainly be a little weird to revisit all that... but I can't wait!

Thanks for this, Viv.

Well, it has a name now: "I Want to Believe." Not awful, kind of nostalgic.

My source was this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080416/ap_en_mo/film_x_files_title;_ylt=ArE05q0c840Nie9ZXyMVAwtY24cA

Thanks for that.

Is it just me or they look bored as sh** in the photo? I just hope it's not going to be one of those reforming partnership where you can sense they'd rather be somewhere else and are phoning their lines in...

do.

Yeah, there's always a possibility that the actors aren't into it anymore. But dude, it's not like their careers have been all that hot since the show.

Oh, and a trailer...

Oh, I know. I totally agree. (I do like Californication though. Very Happy)

Thanks for that.

OMG! Did you watch the video below the trailer... some retrospective montage of the previous nine seasons? All the women gushing in the background? Hehehe! It's almost embarrassing...

do.

"I Want to Believe" is in theatres tomorrow (at least around here... not sure about the release schedule, but it's up on their web site). Squee!

Early reviews are what I expected: the story is underdeveloped and kind of silly, but there's plenty of UST and good ol' Mulder/Scully goodness. No word yet on whether Skinner goes full monty.

I suspect us [s]old folks[/s] longtime 'philes will find plenty of goodness to chew on (write about).

Saw it last night. *happy fangirly sigh*

I can see why the critics hated it: the story is pretty lame, and the notion of Scully Googling anything medical makes me cringe. It unfolded like a double-length episode, albeit not one of the best. Where are Morgan and Wong when you need em.

But all that aside, it was *Mulder and Scully*! And there were plenty of savory in-jokes for us loyal oldies.

I was happy to see that Scully is still hot (too bad Frohicke isn't around to salivate over her), but Muder (that is, David Duchovny) aged a little less gracefully. He couldn't pull off the self-deprecating, eyebrow-waggling geek-smexy as well as he used to. Except for the bedroom scene, which was vintage. "I can hear you thinking." <--Rowr.

I probably won't go to the theater to see it again (as logistics for doing so are kind of complicated in my household), and I'm not sure that I'll purchase the DVD. But I did enjoy the visit; I've missed Mulder and Scully. And they might have inspired a fic bunny in my brain. Maybe. Perhaps.
