Anyone saw the news story on the front page yet? So, who's seen that movie and what's the verdict?

do.

I haven't seen it, didn't even know it existed. I'm amazed that something with a cast like that could slink in under the radar. I'm gonna add it to my Netflix queue. Thanks for the heads up!

Most people on Blockbuster's website hated it too.

It opened right around the same time as There will be Blood, I Am Legend, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and Sweeny Todd. Cloverfield, Teeth, the new Rambo movie came out right after, so it looks to me like it just got buried under all the other HUGE names with films released around Christmas and the calendar change. I'll see if I can get it through Red Box at work and try to post back when I've seen it.

Saw it, and it wasn't all that bad... a certain lack of characterization, but the casting was superb (wonderful chance to see LeeLee Sobieski and the lovely Claire Forlani). My kids know (and love) the video game, and even though I wouldn't pay a second movie ticket. I enjoyed the show.

Same here. That's why I thought I'd ask. Let me know how it is. We're not going to be renting movies anytime soon.

Thanks to all who replied.

Makes sense that amidst all the big New Year's cannons it got buried, Neume.

Cúthalion, you're reassuring me a little. How was Burt Reynolds?

do.

Erh... of regal dignity? *grins* Honestly, it was good, solid acting - and Ray Liotta was a fine villain. I don't understand all the bashing of the director that I found on amazon, for his work was like that of Reynolds - good, solid storytelling, perhaps a bit flat at times, but still enjoyable.

late to the party but I do recall seeing some previews for it some time ago. It was a bit interesting to me but I could tell it might have a different flair to it than other "fantasy/action/adventure" movies... come on you got freaking Jason "Buy a Caravan" Statham kicking butts. ^_^

After a quick glance down the reviews page on rottentomatoes.com, as far as I can tell, folks are mostly annoyed that it isn't LoTR-quality. As if!

I'm almost finished with this movie and I would strongly recommend saving your money lol Cheesy, bad acting, bad music, just pitiful, IMO.

Thanks. I think the reviews are really mixed. You say crap acting and someone else said solid. Cheesy, I think goes without saying... and maybe a little campy too?

Anyway, I'll see during the trip... might need a Statham fix. Cool

do.

Considering that this movie was made by the no good sad excuse of a film director and producer Uwe Boll this movie is surprisingly good! It is the first film he makes that is actually both watchable and entertaining...

Rented it a while back just because of Jason Statham. While I think his acting abilities could stand a good dose of emotions (Transporter I & II not to mention the truly abysmal Crank) I was surprised by how much I did enjoy it.

While I am glad I did not pay for a movie ticket (and I would have just for the title and cast) I am not sorry I rented it and would do so again a bit down the road.

He has emotions? Yikes! I thought he just had ... nevermind.
