I have been a fan of the Black Company book series by Glen Cook since the turn of the century when a guy on one of the Tolkien sites I was on then recommended it to me. I was not disappointed. The writing is rough, just as the mercenary soldiers are, but it tells an epic tale.

It looks like The Black Company is getting a 'Game of Thrones' style working into a TV mini-series. At this point, I have mixed feelings about it, but it appears there are some good people behind this venture.
