The Penguins play all three games at home this week…Tristan Jarry’s first game as the undisputed number one goalie in Pittsburgh did not go well as he gave up six goals on only 25 shots in a loss to Philadelphia…Casey DeSmith will back him up this season…Kasperi Kapanen is still in quarantine after coming over late from Europe as it seems like everyone who waited, had immigration woes…Mark Jankowski is excited to start the season as the Penguins third line center after a terrible season with Calgary in 2019-20 as he had five goals and seven points in 56 games. He got off to a great start with the Pens as he had a goal and an assist in the opener.

The start of the NHL season also unveiled the league’s COVID Protocol Related Absences list, which includes factors like “an initial positive test which remains unconfirmed until confirmatory testing is completed pursuant to the Positive Test Protocol; mandated isolation for symptomatic individuals pursuant to the Positive Test Protocol; required quarantine as a high-risk close contact in accordance with the Positive Test Protocol; isolation based on a confirmed positive test result and/or; quarantine for travel or other reasons as outlined in the COVID-19 Protocol.” 22 players were list on Wednesday, but it didn’t include members of the Dallas Stars. Dallas had a COVID-19 outbreak during training camp, which has delayed the start of their season. The NHL will release the names of those players who won’t be available prior to the Stars' first game.

Mathew Dumba, Joel Eriksson Ek and Ryan Suter scored in regulation, while Gabriel Vilardi, Blake Lizotte and Andreas Athanasiou were the scorers for the Kings. Athanasiou has two goals in two games for his new team, which will endear him to fans once they're allowed back into the barn.

''I felt ready, confident. I've been preparing for this for a long time,'' Lankinen said. ''Was I happy with the outcome? Obviously not. I felt ready, felt good out there. There's a lot to build on.''Washington Capitals

Grimaldi tied it up less than two minutes later. He got the puck from Ryan Ellis and skated up the right boards before beating Merzlikins glove-side with a slap shot from the right circle.Montreal Canadiens
