During the Second Age, Elrond served as a commander of Gil-Galad’s army in both the War of the Elves and Sauron and in the Last Alliance. This story is set during the latter, as Elrond feels the pressure upon him as both a healer and warrior and attempts to balance the two. At the same time his thoughts are with Celebrian, whom he secretly loves, and who may be the steadying influence he needs once the conflict is over.
